Things to keep in mind
Do I have to book my tour in advance?
Yes, and be sure to get your tickets as soon as possible. Our tours usually sell out. Plus, you want to make sure you get the day, time and number of tickets you want.
What is the cancellation/refund policy?
There are no cancellations, refunds or exchanges once tickets are purchased. That includes no shows and late arrivals.
Can I meet the bus in Brooklyn if I’m late and I miss the start of the tour?
No. There is no way to meet the bus in Brooklyn once you miss the start of the tour. That’s why we ask that everyone arrive 15 minutes early to check in as all our tours start promptly and on time.
Do I need a ticket for a very young child?
You don’t need to get a ticket for your child if he or she is 5 or younger, will sit on your lap the entire tour and isn’t eating. You can book a Child Ticket if your child will need a seat or will be eating.
Will I see a lot of Brooklyn?
Absolutely! The tour will take you all over Brooklyn to see movie locations, landmarks and famous points of interest. You’ll experience neighborhoods around the borough such as such as DUMBO, Red Hook, Bay Ridge, Bensonhurst, Coney Island and many more. So, while each tour may have an individual focus, families and friends often find this tour an ideal way to see Brooklyn.
Who will be my tour guide?
All of our tour guides are authentic Brooklynites with sassy personalities to prove it! Tony or Paula try to be on every tour, but from time to time your guide will be another family member or licensed NYC tour guide who was trained by Tony or Paula. All our guides are just as knowledgeable, fun, and familiar with the neighborhoods you’ll be visiting.
Where does the tour start?
The exact meeting location, including a map and subway directions, will be provided to you as soon as you purchase your ticket.
Where does the tour end?
The tours usually end at the original meeting location in the Union Square area of Manhattan.
Will we be on the bus the entire tour?
No. The tours take place on a coach bus since the locations are scattered throughout Brooklyn, but you’ll get off to explore specific locations such as the Brooklyn Bridge, Brooklyn Heights, the Coney Island Boardwalk, etc. Your tour guide will accompany you whenever you leave the bus.
Do you ever omit a location from the tour?
On rare occasion we need to skip or modify certain locations that usually are part of the tour due to traffic conditions, construction, or filming. A Slice of Brooklyn Bus Tours assumes no liability or responsibility for traffic conditions, access to sites, or other conditions beyond its control.
Do you ever cancel tours because of bad weather?
All tours run regardless of weather, but you’ll want to dress appropriately because we do get off the bus at restaurants and several other locations depending on the tour.
Can I eat on the bus?
You can drink on the bus, but food isn’t allowed.
Can I bring wine, beer or other alcoholic beverages on the bus?
It’s against New York State law to drink alcohol on a bus. Some restaurants we visit do sell alcoholic beverages, so be sure to bring cash and a valid ID if you want to partake.
Can I take photos on the tour?
Yes. You’ll have plenty of opportunities to take photos and videos at all our stops. Photography and filming are not allowed on the bus portion of the tour.
Are the tours in English only?
Yes. A Slice of Brooklyn Bus Tours are only conducted in English. Since so much of the tour is visual and tastings, however, visitors from other countries can enjoy the tour with minimal English.
What type of bus is used?
We use closed coach busses and there are three different sizes: 21 passenger, 38 passenger and 55 passenger. They all have air conditioning and heating so you’ll be comfortable no matter what the weather.
Is there assigned seating on the bus?
Seating is first come, first serve. Make sure to arrive 15-20 minutes early if you have a large party who want to sit together. Guests that arrive late, or right at the starting time, are much more likely to have to split up their group.
Is there a bathroom on the bus?
The 38 and 55 passenger vehicles have restrooms, but the 21-passenger vehicle doesn’t. There are restrooms at some of the stops where we get off the bus such as Coney Island.
Is the bus wheelchair-accessible?
Unfortunately our buses don’t have wheelchair access. You’ll need to take a few steps up to get on the bus. Please keep in mind that the platform to enter the bus is about 13.5 inches above the ground. Please join is if other people in your party are able to help you up the stairs.
Can I take a stroller or luggage on the tour?
Yes, all our busses have room for strollers and luggage. Our driver stays on the bus at all times so you’re belongings will remain secure when you get off the bus to explore.
Can you accommodate my dietary restrictions?
Yes! All of our pizza tastings are vegetarian and we can accommodate gluten-free and vegan diets. Gluten-free guests get an antipasto of mozzarella, roasted peppers, salami and olives at our first tasting location and salad at our second location. Vegan guests get pizza with no cheese at our first location and salad at our second location. We also provide alternatives on our Neighborhood Tour. For other dietary restrictions, please contact us and we will accommodate you the best we can!
Is there a lot of walking on your tours?
No. While the tours are conducted on the bus, we do get off the bus to walk around in areas to sightsee, take photos and eat. It’s always manageable.
